This t-shirt is dedicated to St. Faustina herself—the messenger of the beautiful message of Divine Mercy. What better way to honor her than to place her front and center?
I first painted this illustration of St. Faustina last year after returning from my time in Poland, and bringing it to life on a t-shirt felt like such a special way to continue that journey. I wanted this design to feel joyful and colorful, pulling inspiration from the original Divine Mercy image through the blues, reds, and yellows, with stars surrounding St. Faustina and the silhouette of the church on either side of her.
The symbolism behind the stars is especially meaningful to me. In paragraph 1601 of the Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, Jesus explains how chosen souls can become spiritual lights in the darkness of the world—illuminating the earth like stars in the night and spreading holiness even when they are completely hidden and unknown.
